- The Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) of the United States has served and continues to serve as a pioneer in race relations and the empowerment of women. Throughout its history, the YWCA has maintained a significant presence as an agent of change within some of the most significant movements in the United States, along with some of the movements that gained less national traction and attention.
