Definition
- Ectogenesis (from the Greek ecto, outer, and genesis, origin) is artificial reproduction outside the body. An 1883 biology text on pathogenic anatomy introduced the term to describe bacteria that reproduce outside the body. [Source: Encyclopedia of Motherhood; Ectogenesis]
