- The Anti-Defamation League (ADL), one of the nation's premier civil rights and human relations agencies, fights anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry, defends democratic ideals, and protects civil rights for all. When ADL was established in 1913, its charter stated, The immediate object of the League is to stop, by appeals to reason and conscience, and if necessary, by appeals to law, the defamation of the Jewish people.
