1975 sugar shortage
Definition
- Once a very rare commodity reserved for special occasions, sugar and sugar-sweetened products are now widely consumed throughout the world. The popularity of sweets in the United States is especially immense, but many of these products are not actually sweetened with sugar, but rather with high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS).
