Definition
- As the cultural wing of the Communist Party of India, the Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA), founded in 1943, had two main aims. One was to energize traditional rural and folk art forms; the second was, through them, to mirror contemporary social realities, promote the awareness of human rights, and spread national consciousness and patriotic fervor.
