Definition
- Many schools are utilizing intervention techniques to address childhood obesity by focusing programs on healthy changes to school lunch options, better selections, or removal of vending machines, and the addition of extracurricular afterschool programming to increase physical activity. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the after-school snack program is a federally assisted snack program administered at the federal and state level to public and nonprofit private schools.
