Congress of Racial Equality
Definition
- The Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) was founded by a group of interracial students in 1942 on the campus of the University of Chicago. Influenced by the Fellowship of Reconciliation, the members of CORE firmly believed that civil rights for Blacks in the United States could be achieved through nonviolence.
