Preferred term

Asian American and Pacific Islander activism

Definition

  • There are many assumptions about the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) population that often mask their actual participation in, and contributions to, American society. Some scholars have identified AAPIs as the “invisible Americans” because of the lack of visibility they are afforded in scholarly research, public policy, the media, and the political arena.
