Definition
- National (and community) service is a strategy designed to promote civic participation and responsibility by providing opportunities for individuals to serve their country and fellow citizens. Individuals of all ages are provided modest levels of compensation, including assistance for educational expenses, in exchange for time working for or with a nonprofit, charitable organization.
