intercultural teacher training in Europe
Definition
- The positive recognition of the role and value of diversity by intercultural educationists and policymakers—together with the elaboration of an educational discourse that is actively engaged with the social transformations and cultural complexities of contemporary nation-states—has from the beginning been accompanied by the awareness that intercultural teacher-training programs are needed to achieve the aims of this innovative educational perspective. Intercultural education is often considered the answer to the educational needs of immigrants' children and youth enrolled in schools in the various European nation-states.
