  • Protecting and ensuring the level of care afforded to children may involve a variety of legal rights. These legal rights may include a child's right to association with both of his or her biological parents, food and shelter, notions of human identity, access to universal government-funded education and healthcare, and access to a criminal justice system that has laws and procedures that are appropriate to the child's age and developmental progress.
