biologic therapy

Definition

  • SOMETIMES CALLED immunotherapy, biological response modifier therapy (BRM), or biotherapy, is a kind of therapeutic approach that boosts the host's defense system, either directly or indirectly, to fight against disease. Biological therapy helps the body in disease by boosting the immune system's natural reaction to carcinogenesis; highlighting the cancer cells to the immune system and stopping the processes that change a normal cell into a cancerous cell.
