Intolerable Acts of 1774
Definition
- Also referred to as the Coercive Acts, the Intolerable Acts of 1774, enacted under King George III, were crucial in the process of America gaining independence from Britain. The four acts represented a punitive response from the British to the events of the Boston Tea Party.
