Definition
- THE A MERICAN CANCER Society ranks cancer as the number two cause of death in the United States. Cancer-related deaths adjusted to population size have decreased only slightly, whereas deaths related to heart disease and stroke have decreased by more than 50 percent in the United States between 1950 and 2003, the latter primarily as a result of rapid medical advances.
