Definition
- a program made available by the federal government in which those who testify in criminal cases and whose lives are likely in danger as a result of that testimony may assume a new identify in an undisclosed location. Use of the Federal Witness Protection Program is most closely associated with government cases against the Mafia in which the probability of retaliation against any prosecution witness is high.
