Preferred term

development aid

Definition

  • The process of granting development aid started before World War II. However, the development of modern forms of development aid is mostly related to changes in international political and economic relations that occurred after 1945. The will to initiate international cooperation, the independence movement in the imperialist colonies, and the Cold War were the main factors behind this postwar change.
