Definition
- In the introduction of a new drug or treatment modality, a researcher must show that it is at least as efficacious, or perhaps better than the existing or standard treatment. Standard treatments are what is considered common clinical practice in medicine and has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for treatment of a specific disease or medical condition.
