Definition
- Drug underuse, or undermedication, is defined as the omission of drug therapy that is indicated for the treatment or prevention of a disease or condition. The consequence of drug underuse in the care of an older adult may include uncontrolled symptoms, such as pain and dyspnea, which decrease the quality of life.
