Preferred term

gendered organizations

Definition

  • Despite 40 years of research on the embeddedness of gender in work, organizations are still viewed as gender-neutral institutions. Unlike other organizational theories, the gendered organizations approach sees gender as an ongoing interactional process embedded in the mundane practices that constitute and sustain organizations.
