policies to correct inequality
Definición
- In the 50 years of public policy to reduce race and gender inequality in employment, the principle of equal employment opportunity has gained acceptance by many employers, many exclusionary personnel practices of the past have become almost unheard of, and women and racial minorities have gained access to numbers of jobs from which they were previously excluded; nonetheless, substantial inequality in the workplace persists and remains largely unaffected by existing policies. Compared to policy development in some other highly industrialized countries, U.S. policies are limited by political opposition to a greater government role in regulating private sector employer practices and funding social welfare benefits for working parents.
