- Folk psychology or commonsense psychology or theory of mind is the practice of ascribing psychological properties to people, such as belief, desires, emotions, and intentions. “Alice is angry,” “Juan is planning to stop Frank,” and “McCain thinks he is going to win the election,” are all psychological ascriptions.
