United States v. Seeger and Welsh v. United States
Definición
- Supreme Court decisions in United States v. Seeger and Welsh v. United States have helped to define conscientious objector (CO) status under Section 6(J) of the Universal Military Training and Service Act (1958). The section exempts from military combat service those who are opposed to participation in war owing to their “religious training and belief,” defined as a belief in a supreme being that involves duties or obligations above that of any human relationship.
