hobo and tramp literature

Definición

  • The literature of the hobo and tramp, and of the homeless in general, is rich and varied, featuring the work of some of America's greatest authors—Jack London, Stephen Crane, Theodore Dreiser—as well as lesser-known writers such as Tom Kromer. The great theme, or tension, of the literature about homelessness is the conflict between the romantic appeal of the road and the brutal realities of the vagabond life.
