- In 1994 and 1995, a stream of invective was directed against the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum (NASM). The museum had planned, under the guidance of director Martin Harwit, to exhibit the B-29 Superfortress Enola Gay, the plane that dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, on August 6, 1945.
