families new to the school
Definición
- According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, in Healthy People 2010, “Schools have more influence on the lives of young people than any other social institution except the family.” The role of the family is as an integral component of academic success and the school environment, and the value of the family has been demonstrated theoretically and in practice: from the inclusion of family and community involvement as an essential component of Coordinated School Health to ecological models of school health that place emphasis on the way in which family and community involvement influence all aspects of a students' school experience. In schools with robust family involvement, the children's chance for academic success is greater than in schools where family engagement is fragile.
