- Politically exposed persons (PEPs), sometimes referred to as senior foreign political figures, are considered to be past or present high-ranking or senior-level individuals in the executive, legislative, administrative, military, and judicial branches of a foreign government who are currently or formerly entrusted with high-level public duties and responsibilities. Such persons may be heads of state, senior politicians, heads of political parties, high-level government officials, senior judicial officials, military officials, senior executives of state-owned or state-affiliated enterprises and corporations, and members of their family and close business associates.
