disciplinarity

Definición

  • Disciplinarity may be taken to denote the presence of distinct and well-circumscribed modes of knowledge systematically organized into authoritative bodies of discrete specializations representing different “sciences” or “disciplines” cognitively and institutionally separated from each other. This entry presents aspects of disciplinarity, or lack thereof, dividing “disciplines” within the social sciences into different kinds along that line, and charts the possible historical and political causes behind the genesis of distinct disciplines in the social sciences.
