Definición
- In 1991, as the annual number of noncombative landmine victims reached 20,000, discussions among non-governmental organizations (NGOs) faced with responding to the devastation wrought within civilian communities caused by leftover anti-personnel land-mines (APL) led to decisive action. In 1992, six NGOs formed the International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL). [Source: Encyclopedia of Activism and Social Justice; International Campaign to Ban Landmines]
