long-term offender designation

Definición

  • In the Canadian criminal justice system, certain offenders bear the label “long-term offender.” According to Canadian public safety agencies, as of 2005 there were roughly 300 long-term offenders in Canada. Generally, Canadian courts affix the long-term offender designation to offenders who ostensibly show little promise for rehabilitation and who pose a significant risk to society.
