- The Consumer Product Safety Commission Act created the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to oversee regulation of consumer products in the United States. The act was sponsored as Senate Bill 3419 in the 92nd Congress after the release of a report on a two-year study by the National Commission on Product Safety chaired by Arnold B.
