  • Brigham Young (1801–77) was a U.S. political, religious figure, and noted colonizer of Salt Lake City and other settlements throughout the western United States. He served as the second president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), frequently referred to as the Mormon Church, between 1847 and 1877 and the first governor of the Utah Territory between 1851 and 1858.
