  • Gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding arising from lesions in the alimentary canal can be attributed to a variety of pathological and rarely even physiologically normal conditions such as simple tearing, vomiting, or excessive coughing. The entire digestive tract, consisting of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine (colon), rectum, and anus, may be susceptible to damage, with certain gut segments showing greater frequency of insult in certain diseases.
