Definición

  • Dopamine is a neurotransmitter discovered by the Swedish neuroscientist Arvid Carlsson (1923–) in 1957. The discovery eventually led him to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2000, an award he shared with Eric Kandel (1929–) of Columbia University for his work on the physiological basis of memory storage in neurons, and Paul Greengard (1925–) of Rockefeller University for his work on the molecular and cellular function of neurons.
