- MERKEL CELL CARCINOMA (MCC), a non-mel-anoma skin cancer, is a rare, highly aggressive tumor that develops from neuroendocrine cells. In MCC(also called trabecular cancer), malignant cells, thought to be Merkel cells or skin pressure receptors, develop within the skin and hair follicles.
