presidential election of 1800

Definición

  • THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION of 1800 set up a rematch of the 1796 presidential election between John Adams (Federalist) and Thomas Jefferson (Democratic-Republican) and for the only time in history featured a contest between the sitting president and vice president. In their private correspondence with each other and other family members, both John and Abigail Adams voiced their belief early in 1800 that John would lose the election and the desire to return home.
