  • Formally created in 1985, the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) is the product of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980 (CERCLA), also known as the Superfund law. The Superfund program is responsible for locating and cleaning up dangerous hazardous waste sites in the United States.
