Ayers v. Fordice

Définition

  • Ayers and the United States v. Fordice (1992) represents the first time the U.S. Supreme Court ruled on the question of precisely what remedial measures were required to eliminate the vestiges of de jure racial segregation in pubic higher education. Previous higher-education desegregation lawsuits decided by the nation's highest court focused only on the question of the rights of African Americans as individuals to attend previously all-White state universities.
