  • Rational Recovery is an alcohol and substance addiction recovery program that was founded in the late 1980s by Jack Trimpey, a licensed social worker who is a recovered alcoholic. The program formally began in 1986, and in 1988 Trimpey published The Small Book, detailing the rationale and principles of the Rational Recovery approach to alcohol and substance abuse recovery.
