- Administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) is a federal information clearinghouse responsible for receiving, storing, and disseminating information about medical malpractice payments and adverse actions taken against healthcare practitioners. Established under the Health Care Quality Improvement Act of 1986, the NPDB began collecting data on September 1, 1990.
