  • The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) was established in 1974 when Congress passed the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA). At this time, many were concerned about young status offenders being labeled and exposed to more serious criminals when incarcerated.
