- In general the study of the merits, risks and social impact of the activities of the medical profession. This includes topics such as death and dying and issues such as euthanasia, mercy killing and physician assisted suicide; reproductive health issues, such as new reproductive technologies, abortion, cloning, genetic screening and eugenics; issues to do with the carrying out of medical research such as the Nuremberg Code; and issues regarding the accessibility, distribution and utilization of medical care.
