- A regional term originally used to describe relict periglacial mass movement deposits (typically diamictons) capping many coastal cliff sections in parts of southwest England. Head is usually regarded as deposits formed by solifluction, but usage is sometimes broadened to include a wider range of colluvial processes. [Source: Encyclopedia of Environmental Change; head]
