  • Duke University's Talent Identification Program (TIP), described in this entry, was founded in 1980 by a grant from the Duke Endowment. One of four university-based talent search programs in the United States (the others are Johns Hopkins University's Center for Talented Youth, Northwestern University's Center for Talent Development, and the University of Denver's Rocky Mountain Talent Search), the TIP has served more than 1.8 million gifted students, in a geographical area focused on 16 states in the South and Southeast.
