aging in place
Définition
- Aging in place is the process through which older adults continue living in their own homes for as long as possible without relocating to a living environment designated for aging, such as a continuing care retirement community, assisted-living facility, or skilled nursing facility. Although a common misperception exists that older people generally move into age-segregated housing when they retire, aging in place is the most prevalent way people grow old in America.
