Définition
- Just how controversial the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Japan, in 1945 remains was shown by the turmoil surrounding the proposed exhibition of the U.S. bomber Enola Gay at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., on the fiftieth anniversary of the bombing. Although the turmoil encompassed multiple points of political, social and cultural importance and reflected both memory of the past and changes in historical perspective, it also was a reminder that the use of such weapons is always a possibility.
