- Religious violence has been a part of human history for thousands of years, but in recent decades there have been more outbreaks in more locations around the world. Crisis managers have had to help governments, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), religious institutions, and other entities prepare for, adjust to, and recover from episodes of short-term or extended periods of religious violence.
