- Metropolitan correctional centers (MCCs) and metropolitan detention centers (MDCs) are high-rise correctional facilities that house inmates in dense urban environments. These institutions are generally designed to hold prisoners and pretrial detainees temporarily while awaiting transport, trials, or court hearings.
