Définition

  • Corrections is typically considered the third major component of the criminal justice system (with law enforcement and courts being the first and second, respectively). Corrections are those sentencing options for someone who has been convicted of a crime and can include financial penalties and reimbursement (fines and restitution), community/public service hours, community-based sanctions (probation, parole, or house arrest), intermediate sanctions (work-release and restitution centers, boot camp programs), institutional corrections (jails and prisons), and capital punishment (the death penalty).
