Définition
- Disneyization has been defined as ‘the process by which the principles of the Disney theme parks are coming to dominate more and more sectors of American society as well as the rest of the world’ (Bryman, 1999: 26). In defining the concept in this way, Bryman simply repeats Ritzer's (1993) definition of McDonaldization, but replaces the word ‘McDonaldization’ with ‘Disneyization’. Hence, Bryman is seeking to define Disneyization in direct relation to Ritzer's concept of McDonaldization. [Source: The SAGE Dictionary of Leisure Studies; Disneyization]
