federally qualified health centers

Définition

  • Federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) include federally funded community health centers, migrant health centers, and health clinics run by Native American tribes, tribal organizations, and urban Native American organizations, as well as certain primary care clinics that meet the requirements for community health centers but do not receive federal funding. To meet those requirements such clinics must provide primary care services to people living in the clinic's service area, regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay, or be clinics recognized by the health resources and services administration (HRSA) as an FQHC as of January 1, 1990.
